Top-Publikation Dr. Jasper Boeddinghaus - first author in Nature Medicine Dr. Jasper Boeddinghaus from the University Heart Center is first author of a author of a paper just published in Nature Medicine (Impact Factor 87!) on the use of of Artificial Intelligence in the Early Diagnosis of Acute Myocardial Infarction. Dr. Jasper Boeddinghaus has been able to conduct research on the use of artificial intelligence in the early diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction, supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation, Dr. Jasper Boeddinghaus has succeeded in using innovative methods of artificial intelligence for patients with acute myocardial infarction - who present to the emergency department with acute chest pain - whether a myocardial infarction is the cause. In addition to concentration of cardiac troponin in the blood, as well as gender, age, length of time since the onset of chest pain, ECG changes, previous cardiac diseases, and renal function, and renal function play a role. By integrating and evaluating these a safe rule-out or an exact rule-in of myocardial infarction could be achieved in more patients myocardial infarction in more patients than was possible by using fixed cardiac troponin cut-offs. The work of Dr. Jasper Boeddinghaus is based, among other things, on the international APACE study, a unique interdisciplinary collaboration between the University Heart Center, the Emergency Center, the Clinic for Internal Medicine, the Center for Laboratory Medicine, and the Blood Donation Center with 12 other hospitals worldwide. In addition, the work impressively documents the clinical and scientific and scientific leadership of the University Hospital Basel in cardiovascular medicine and the the great importance of cardiovascular research for the University of Basel. Dr. Jasper Boeddinghaus will return to us in April 2024 as a senior physician in Interventional Cardiology will return to us at the USB.
